Re: MRP modules in Odoo v10
by
InitOS GmbH, Frederik Kramer
Hi Jean-Marc, although not having had so many touch points with either of the MRP implementations so far (meaning in-depth hands on experience), i have quite closely followed the different paths Odoo and the community took. To my perspective MRP is one of premier examples where the community innovates (many thanks to Pedro and all the folks around him) and the vendor takes up the then obvious market requirement to keep up with that functional field as well. However, the last time i was assessing this the innovations where different in the sense that the community MRP is much more feature complete whereas the MRP implementation of v10 (enterprise) pretty much focuses on CAD/CAE integration (which is very important but not the sole purpose of MRP). Furthermore, i believe (but knowing is a different story) that v8 MRP is a much more mature and complete implementation for the time being and probably for a long period, so for serious MRP projects i would still tend to go with that one. If major functionality (such as MRP) will ever be ported to v10 is questionable to me for the time being. There seems still quite few interest in following Odoos marketing agenda by porting all modules in one year cycles (which also doesn't make much sense to me). The dilemma here is. Odoo S.A needs to be easy, vastly available, affordable but not necessarily feature complete to address a mass market (just like every VC startup literature suggests), a serious MRP project needs quite the opposite (feature completeness, stability and maturity of the business modell...) Sorry but these are just my 50-cent as for strategic considerations KR Frederik Am Montag, den 30.01.2017, 09:07 +0000 schrieb Jean-Marc Dupont: > Anyone to share his thoughts ? > > I'm a bit confused on the strategy to adopt for the customers ... > > > > 2017-01-23 14:10 GMT+01:00 Jean-Marc Dupont <jmd@6it.fr>: > > Hello community, > > > > This mail to know the status / strategy to apply to MRP modules > > developed for Odoo v8 / v9 and the fact that Odoo v10 has its own > > MRP modules, but in Enterprise version. > > What do we do for a new customer who needs MRP functionalities but > > is not willing to buy Odoo 10 Enterprise version ? > > > > Will the old Odoo MRP modules - and all the community modules built > > around them - be ported to Odoo v10 ? > > > > What is your strategy ? > > > > Thanks in advance for your thoughts / answers. > > > > Cordially, > > > > > > > > Jean-Marc DUPONT > > Agence Web, e-Commerce et Systèmes d'entreprise > > 68, rue du Refuge - 84200 Carpentras > > T. 06.24.91.02.03 - 04 84 25 17 94 > > Éditeur de la marque Provenc.io > > 1° marque e-Commerce 100% Provence > > > > > > > > > _______________________________________________ > Mailing-List: http://odoo-community.org/groups/manufacturing-6 > Post to: mailto:manufacturing@odoo-community.org > Unsubscribe: http://odoo-community.org/groups?unsubscribe -- Dr.-Ing.
