A bit of history

The Odoo Community Association (the OCA in short) has been active in the Odoo world for more than 10 years.

The OCA has been allowing hundreds of thousands of Odoo projects to be more efficient and cost-effective, thanks to thousands of Odoo features, available for free and under an open source licence. Those features have been created and maintained in a collaborative and open source way.

The huge amount of work behind those features has been provided by thousands of OCA members and contributors over the years. They contributed with their code, their time and also their money.

Each year, a new release brings new surprises regarding which feature is now proprietary (Enterprise Edition) or open source (Community Edition). The OCA contributors have worked hard to maintain a full solution, independent from the Enterprise Edition. An important brick of this solution is the OpenUpgrade project, the open source way to data migration.

We want to fund the missing key Odoo Community features and the OpenUpgrade project on a regular basis. That’s not all: we want an easy way for anyone to find the right feature in a few seconds.

Today, there is no roadmap about when an OCA feature or the OpenUpgrade scripts will be ready for the latest Odoo version. This work has always relied on the benevolence of the authors and maintainers of the code, depending if they have the time and resources to get this done.

We want to offer a crowdfunding platform where maintainers will offer to migrate OCA features, improve the documentation, and create new features. Anyone interested in this work will be able to fund it and have it ready sooner!

What are the OCA’s mission and vision?

OCA's mission

To facilitate real collaboration between Odoo developers and consultants throughout the ecosystem and ensure that Odoo remains a viable open source ERP regardless of what Odoo SA decides to do in the future. 

OCA's vision

Build a continually growing community that resembles an open source foundation and is on equal footing with Odoo SA. Be a marker of quality in the Odoo ecosystem, both in terms of who is associated with the OCA (members, sponsors, contributors, event attendees) and the quality of the modules that are accepted. 

OCA's activities

The OCA offers many services to the Odoo community in general:
Thousands of high quality Odoo features, open source and free, compatible with both the Community and Enterprise Editions. This is offered by the work of the contributors who are funded by their own customers and want to share their high quality code with the whole community.
The OpenUpgrade project: a core team of OCA contributors work on the creation of the OpenUpgrade scripts after each new major Odoo release. This allows to migrate any Odoo database without losing data. This project is partly and directly funded by the OCA budget.
The tools, infrastructure and processes to collaborate and ensure high quality and reliable features in the long run.
The OCA organizes various activities for the community:
  • Events: the annual OCA Days in Belgium when our community members come together, share their knowledge and enjoy a few days together, usually before the Odoo XP event, where we always have a booth as well.
  • Training and webinars: regular content is shared for our members through our exclusive webinars to navigate the OCA world. We also organize advanced training given by Odoo experts.

Let's talk about money!


We are still looking for 100.000€ in 2025, in addition to what we already get or expect to receive.

  • finalization of version 17 (started in 2024): 5 000€

  • version 18 :  15 000 €

  • version 19 : 15 000€

  • We want to release the OpenUpgrade scripts in the 3 months following a major release.

  • A crowdfunding platform to link contributors offering pieces of work and funders

  • A new App Store to find the right module in an instant

  • A new website showcasing

  • a profile page for companies sponsoring the OCA

  • a contributor page

  • a beautiful list of our members, delegates and board members

  • a private access for members only (exclusive content like videos, documents, tips & tricks)

  • an improved onboarding process for new members and contributors

  • And of course, an efficient Odoo database behind the scenes to help the operational team be more efficient (this includes the migration to the latest Odoo version, of course!)

  • a part of the operational team costs

  • the OCA presence during the Odoo XP event and other events

  • the work to be GDPR-compliant

  • OCA infrastructure and hosting

The OCA annual budget has always been around 75 000€ between 2013 and 2023.

With the growth of the community, we hired a (part time) General Secretary to take care of the administration of the association. In 2024, we decided to hire a (part time) Executive Director in order to launch new initiatives for the community. We hired in 2025 a (part time) Content Creator & Training Manager in 2025.

To be able to run efficiently at the horizon of 2027, the association needs an annual budget of 500 000€.

How does the OCA plan to raise this amount of money?

100 000€ in the Odoo world is actually peanuts. We believe that the Odoo integrators who have relied on the OCA in the past will now give back and be part of this whole new movement we are building together.

With 50 companies sponsoring the OCA with the 2000€ sponsorship package, we are already there! In the future, we will have more than 200 companies sponsoring the OCA: this will simply be the 6% of Odoo partners who know that balanced cooperation in business is the smartest way.

The OCA as a whole has helped and continues to help thousands of Odoo Integrators and end-users: they are able to get an Odoo platform up and running quickly and with the assurance of getting a super high quality, regarding the low investment to make (as the OCA features are free!).


This year is of vital importance for the OCA. We want to pursue what we have been doing for more than 10 years but with a new breath of life. 

In the future, we expect the best Odoo developers and consultants to become members of the OCA. Because it is the place to become a really good Odoo expert.

In the future, we expect the best Odoo integrators  to support the OCA through contributions and money (sponsorships). Because it is the place to get cost-effective and quality solutions for their customers. Because it is the place where best practices are shared. Because it is the place where the future Odoo users will look for their Odoo Integrators. And because all of this is totally independent from Odoo S.A. company or any company!
